Mandi Medical College to emerge as premier health institute of HP

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College at Ner Chowk in Mandi district would emerge as a premier health institute of Himachal Pradesh as it would have best infrastructure.

Addressing the faculty and staff of medical college on Tuesday evening, he said initially, the medical college was to be developed as ESIC Medical College and Hospital.

But due to certain issues the same could not materialise and it was only after the NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved this college for the state.

The CM said that this institute has one of the finest infrastructure and campus and the government would provide all required infrastructure and faculty for this medical college at the earliest.

“All modern facilities such as MRI, CT Scan and X-Ray machine would be provided to the Institute. This college would prove a boon for the people of the region by providing them best healthcare facilities nearer to their home,” he said.

He said that in the coming four-five years, this institute would surely emerge as one of the premier medical college of the state.
