A 23-year-old man was arrested after his video went viral on social media, in which he was allegedly firing a country-made pistol in the air in the northeast of the city, the Delhi Police said on Tuesday.
The accused, Salman, a resident of Kachchi Kardampuri, was traced after his appearance in the video, along with the illegal firearm and live cartridges.
A senior officer mentioned, “We received a tip-off regarding his whereabouts, after which we laid a trap in Kardampuri on Saturday and got our hands on Salman.”
“One country-made pistol and eight live cartridges were recovered from his possession,” he further added.
During the sustained interrogation with Salman, he admitted to the firing seen in the video and later disclosed the source of the weapon.
A case has been registered against him under the relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is ongoing into this case to get more details, the officer stated.
