Man killed after being hit by SUV in Delhi’s Rajinder Nagar

A middle-aged man died on Sunday after being allegedly hit by an SUV in Rajinder Nagar area of Central Delhi.

According to the FIR, based on an eyewitness account, the incident took place around 9 a.m. on Shankar Road, Rajinder Nagar. The deceased was identified as Gunjan Luthra, a resident of West Patel Nagar.

The eyewitness stated that he had parked his car when a scooter arrived and was parked just behind it. Moments later, an SUV allegedly rammed into the scooter, hitting both the rider and the scooter, and subsequently collided with his car.

The scooter rider was rushed to RML Hospital, where doctors declared him “brought dead.”

Eyewitnesses at the scene managed to stop the SUV driver before police arrived. A call regarding the accident had been received at Rajinder Nagar Police Station, following which officers reached the spot and found a crowd gathered with the driver in custody.

The site was inspected, and based on prima facie evidence, a case has been registered under relevant sections of law. Police said further legal proceedings are underway and an investigation is in progress.
