Police have registered a gang rape case after a 40-year-old woman alleged that three men sexually assaulted her in Maharashtra’s Virar.

The case was first registered at Virar Police Station before being transferred to Bolinj Police Station, where the alleged offence falls under local jurisdiction. Two accused have been identified, while a third remains unidentified.

FIR names two accused, one unidentified accomplice

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the alleged incident took place between 2:46 am and 4:30 am on June 24 in the Dongarpada area of Virar West.

The woman alleged that Tejas, Deepak and another unidentified person acted together and took her to a secluded lane, where they allegedly sexually assaulted her.

Based on her complaint, police registered an FIR under Section 70(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police said the case was transferred from Virar Police Station to Bolinj Police Station because the alleged offence occurred within the latter’s jurisdiction.

Officials said further investigation is underway.
