LG takes Metro ride to CP, interacts with commuters, listens to their concerns and aspirations for the city

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu

Delhi Lieutenant Governor Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Saturday took a Metro ride on his way to Connaught Place, often referred to as the city’s ‘heart,’ where people, mostly on weekends, visit in large numbers to enjoy food, shopping and spend time with family and friends.

Sandhu, dressed in casuals, mingled with the common public during his Metro ride and had candid conversations with people from different age groups, who shared their experiences as well as issues related to the city.

The LG said, like his previous Metro ride, this Saturday’s journey was also an insightful experience, as he heard directly from people about their daily commute, civic concerns and aspirations for the capital city.

He emphasised that such conversations with the public are an important reminder that effective governance is rooted in listening.

Sandhu noted that staying connected with the day-to-day experiences of the citizens helps ensure that efforts from the administration’s side remain responsive, people-centric, and focused on improving the quality of life for all.

The LG also took a stroll around the Connaught Place area and interacted with local vendors, listening to their concerns.

Earlier too, on multiple occasions since assuming office, Sandhu has visited marketplaces, colonies and other areas across the city, interacting directly with people to understand their concerns.

As part of his public outreach efforts, he has visited Chandni Chowk, Kamla Nagar Market, Khan Market and other areas, where he reviewed infrastructure and ongoing works, interacted with local residents, and noted their suggestions for improvements.

During such visits, Sandhu interacts with shopkeepers, students, vendors and visitors in the vibrant atmosphere of such places.

His conversations revolve around ground issues and key civic concerns such as parking, sanitation, security, women’s safety and others.

Sandhu likes to mingle with people and has also experienced local flavours, as he did at a popular eatery during his recent visit to Kamla Nagar.
