LG reviews MCD’s ongoing works, officers directed to be responsive to public feedback

Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Friday reviewed the status of several important initiatives and the ongoing development works of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). In a meeting with the MCD Commissioner and other senior officers, he discussed strengthening of service delivery, resolving legacy issues, and enhancing enforcement and accountability across all the zones.

During the meeting, the officers were directed to stay closely aligned with onrealities and remain responsive to public feedback to bridge existing gaps in service expectations.
Later, taking to social media platform X, LG Sandhu said, “We remain committed to delivering essential services efficiently and within defined timelines, and will extend full support to address operational challenges in building a cleaner, more responsive city.”

Soon after assuming office last month, Sandhu has been taking stock of various issues and pending pertaining to public welfare and has been involved in chalking out solutions, holding meetings with officials concerned, and conducting on-site visits.
The LG stressed the need for progress in areas like managing the waste disposal, upkeep of basic infrastructure such as roads, and taking on challenges like pollution control with a focus on dust mitigation.

Meanwhile, Sandhu, also paid a visit to Delhi Development Authority’s (DDA) Swabhiman Apartments at Jailorwala Bagh, which is an in-situ rehabilitation project developed under PM-UDAY in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Jahan Jhuggi Wahin Makaan” and interacted with residents, including women and children, to take first-hand feedback on living conditions, civic amenities, and maintenance works.

According to the Lok Nivas Delhi, the residents of the apartment expressed gratitude to PM Modi for the homes.

The LG directed the district administration and departments concerned and the Delhi Police to address the issues faced by residents on a priority basis, to ensure they have a safe, clean, and well-maintained living environment.
