Two men linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were killed in a police encounter on Sunday, according to authorities. SP STF Vikrant Bhushan identified the two men as Parvesh and Himanshu. He said both were tied to the murder of Kapil, a gym operator in Hansi.
The original murder case
Bhushan explained that last month, Kapil was killed by two unidentified individuals in Hansi. A case was registered at Hansi City police station following the murder.
The investigation eventually pointed to Parvesh and Himanshu as the key shooters behind the crime, both linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
How the encounter unfolded
According to Bhushan, Manjeet, in charge of the Counter Intelligence Delhi Special Cell unit, received a tip-off on Sunday. Following further development of that information, police learned the two wanted shooters were armed and allegedly planning to commit another crime.
When police teams attempted to intercept the duo, the situation escalated quickly. Bhushan said the shooters opened fire first, and police teams returned fire in self-defence.
The exchange of fire left several people injured. A police constable was hit in the leg, while four other officers took bullets on their bulletproof vests. Both shooters also sustained injuries during the encounter.
What happened to those injured
The injured shooters were rushed to a hospital immediately after the shootout. Despite medical attention, doctors declared both of them brought dead upon arrival.
The injured police constable was referred to a super-speciality hospital for further treatment.
