A young man drowned while stepping into a swimming pool at Kolkata’s Chetla Agrani on Monday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, the deceased had gone for a swim but be started drowning shortly after entering the pool. He was quickly taken out of the water in an unconscious state and rushed to SSKM Hospital, where he was declared dead.
The exact circumstances leading to his death remain unclear, and the police have initiated an investigation.
The deceased has been identified as Ritwik Chakraborty, a resident of Nepal Bhattacharya Street in the Badamtala Ashar Sangha area in Kolkata.
As per police reports, authorities are currently investigating whether a sudden physical ailment led to his death or if there was some other underlying cause which triggered the incident.
Police rushed to the spot as soon as they were informed, and are currently examining CCTV footage.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and a case of unnatural death has been registered.
