The West Bengal Regional Office of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) celebrated its 45th Foundation Day, reaffirming its commitment to inclusive, sustainable and technology driven rural development. The event was graced by Sudhanshu Prasad, Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India, as the Chief Guest, and Balbir Singh, Convener, State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC), West Bengal, as the Guest of Honour. The welcome address was delivered by Chief General Manager, NABARD, West Bengal Regional Office.
Chief General Manager PK Bhardwaj highlighted NABARD’s four-decade contribution to agriculture and rural development through refinance, rural infrastructure, institutional strengthening and credit plus initiatives. Marking the International Year of Women Farmers 2026, he underscored the transformative role of women led self-help groups and highlighted NABARD’s support through RIDF, computerisation of 4,600 PACS, promotion of FPOs, strengthening of cooperatives and RRBs, the total GLC achievement pegged at Rs 1.17 lakh crore in agriculture
