Under the “Delhi Ko Koode Se Azadi: Swachhta Abhiyan” campaign, Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh, along with a large number of local residents, youth, women, and students, on Saturday became part of a large human chain and appealed to people to extend their cooperation in the city’s sanitation drive.
With the resolve to make Delhi clean and beautiful, the chain was formed from Rohini Sector-5 to Japanese Park, spreading the message of cleanliness.
Later, at the event organized by MCD Rohini Zone in Sector-10, Singh along with Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta and MCD Mayor Raja Iqbal Singh, motivated people to contribute actively to the cleanliness campaign.
During the human chain, Singh picked up a broom and cleaned the roads with local residents, setting an example and inspiring people. He said, “Today we march forward with a resolve that is not only about Delhi’s beauty but also about the health and future of coming generations.”
The Cabinet Minister appealed that segregation of wet and dry waste into designated bins and MCD vehicles will be a major contribution from citizens towards the success of this cleanliness campaign. He emphasized that if citizens deposit wet and dry waste in the designated sections of garbage collection vehicles, Delhi will soon transform into a clean and beautiful city.
He further urged people to stop using single-use plastic, dedicate one day every week for community cleaning (Shramdaan) in neighborhoods and colonies, and teach children the value of cleanliness so that it becomes part of their character. “Delhi will become developed and secure only when it is clean,” he added.
