Several parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) will observe traffic restrictions for the next 10 days due to the ongoing Kanwar Yatra, the Delhi Police said on Tuesday.
The Delhi Traffic Police announced significant traffic restrictions across different parts of Delhi and NCR till July 23, keeping the Kanwar Yatra in mind, to help commuters plan their route ahead.
The Traffic Department has released a list of routes to avoid and alternative routes to use to help prepare for the disruptions in advance.
As per the advisory, the restrictions have been placed because the Kanwariyas will use important routes in Noida, Kalindi Kunj, and Agra Canal Road to travel to Gurugram, Rajasthan, and Faridabad.
The commuters travelling to the Kalindi Kunj route to Noida from Delhi are advised by the traffic police to use the DND Flyover or Ashram route instead.
With one carriageway of the Kalindi Kunj-Noida route set to remain closed, commuters travelling from Faridabad to Noida are advised to take the alternate route via Mathura Road—passing through Badarpur, Ashram, and DND.
Kanwariyas, mostly heading to Rajasthan and Haryana, are using routes in Delhi-NCR to reach their destinations.
Additionally, some Kanwar camps will also be set up in Delhi, and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta approved all 374 applications received in this regard.
The Delhi government is giving up to Rs 10 lakh in financial assistance through direct benefit transfer scheme to registered Kanwar committees that set up tents with basic facilities.
The Delhi Traffic Advisory came into force starting July 13 and will remain in place till July 23.
