The Delhi Traffic Police issued a comprehensive advisory to commuters on Monday for smooth traffic flow in the wake of the Kanwar Yatra.

The advisory outlined the arrangements and major routes in the national capital closed from July 21 to July 23 to ensure smooth traffic movement along with public safety.

According to the advisory posted on the Delhi Traffic Police’s X handle, “Due to Kanwar Yatri arrangements, the following roads will be closed from July 21, 2025, 8:00 AM to July 23, 2025, 8:00 AM.”

“GT Road from Apsara Border to Shahdara, Seemapuri to Apsara Border, Anand Vihar to Apsara Border, GT Road to Vivek Vihar Underpass, traffic from Swami Dayanand Marg to Keshav Chowk (towards GT Road), traffic from Pusta Road to Shastri Park,” the statement read further.

Suggesting alternate routes to commute, they added, “For traffic from Seemapuri to Apsara Border, use the underpass towards Road No. 56; for traffic from Anand Vihar to Apsara Border, use the underpass towards Seemapuri.”

“For traffic on GT Road to Vivek Vihar, use the Apsara Border route and then Road No. 56. For traffic on Swami Dayanand Marg, use Vikas Marg or NH-9. For traffic on Pusta Road, use NH-9 or Ring Road,” it was added further.

To avoid congestion, commuters heading towards ISBT via Swami Dayanand Marg have been advised to use the Keshav Chowk underpass to reach Maujpur or take a U-turn at Shyam Chowk to access ISBT via Swami Dayanand Marg, Vikas Marg, or the Master Plan Road.

Additionally, commuters from Seelampur T-Point should use Road No. 66 to reach Wazirabad Road, while those traveling from Dharampura T-Point can continue on either Road No. 66 or divert through the Keshav Chowk underpass.

Vehicles approaching GT Road via the Old Iron Bridge are being diverted to Pusta Road via Kailash Nagar and Gandhi Nagar. Commuters from Shastri Park Pusta Road can merge onto GT Road at Shastri Park and proceed via Road No. 66 or the Keshav Chowk underpass.

Furthermore, the traffic from Khajoori Chowk will be routed via Wazirabad Road to reach ISBT, easing pressure on the affected GT Road stretch.

Authorities have advised motorists to follow traffic updates and cooperate with diversions in place to ensure smooth flow during the Kanwar Yatra period.
