Tension spread in parts of Kanpur on Monday morning after the body of a young man was found at the Nirala Nagar railway ground, which falls under the Govind Nagar police station area.

Police said the man was found without clothes and lying in a pool of blood. Initial signs indicate that he may have been hit on the head with a brick.

However, officers recovered clothes, including a jacket with a Hindustan Petroleum logo, around 50 metres away. A motorcycle was also found parked nearby.

The body was first spotted by morning walkers, who alerted the police. Following the information, personnel from the local police station, forensic teams and senior officials reached the site and began preliminary examination.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Dipendra Nath Chaudhary said efforts are underway to identify the deceased using the motorcycle’s registration details. The body has been sent for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.

Police said all possible angles are being examined, and further action will be taken as the investigation moves forward.
