Sufi and Bollywood singer Kailash Kher submitted re-edited version of television serial on Kedarnath to the Uttarakhand government on Monday. The singer got hefty amount from the state government for making the serial and the issue became political when the earlier Congress government paid Kher a major payment through disaster relief fund. BJP raised the issue, but when the party came to power it cleared a major chunk of the pending amount to the singer.

Singer Kailash Kher said, “Finally handed over the re-edited version of Baba Kedarnath to the secretary and DG information and public relation.” After getting the re-edited documentary now Uttarakhand government faces huge challenge in getting it telecast on tv channels. Big confusion prevails about the amount which Kailash Kher received from the state government-as he was paid from different departments. Will Kher play any role in getting the serial screened?

Commissioned by the earlier Harish Rawat government, the serial is finally complete to be screened on tv. The change in government created some trouble for Kailash Kher and he had to meet many state government officers and leaders for clearing his payment in September last year. The BJP government was generous enough to clear major payment of the Sufi singer.

The serial was commissioned for spreading message of safe Uttarakhand among tourists. In fact, many people are asking about the logic of Uttarakhand government providing financial aid to a tv programme when tourism industry is registering an upswing in the hill state. Take the case of Kedarnath last year 4.69 Lakh tourists visited the Hindu temple in district Ruderprayag, which was one of the highest in recent years.
