Two CRPF personnel were killed and two others injured on Friday when car-borne terrorist opened fire at them in the Achabal area of South Kashmir.

Two other CRPF men were also injured in the shootout.

According to media reports, a civilian was also injured when militants opened fire on a CRPF team deployed on law and order duty at Achabal Chowk in Anantnag.

The militants managed to escape after the attack.

The two CRPF jawans killed were assistant sub-inspector Meena and constable Sandeep, officials said.

After the attack, the area was cordoned off and a hunt was launched to track down the assailants.

“The injured CRPF trooper was shifted to hospital for treatment. The area has been cordoned off for searches,” the police said.

Police said that an FIR has been registered into the incident and investigations initiated.
