Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee(KPCC) president MM Hassan on Wednesday demanded invoking the provisions of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) against the murderers of Youth Congress leader TH Shoaib, who was killed near Mattanur in Kannur on Monday night.
Speaking to media persons here, he also urged the government to set up a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the incident.

Hassan said it was “unfortunate” that even after 36 hours of the brutal murder, no one had been taken into custody by the police “This is the 21st political murder since the Pinarayi government assumed office in May 2016.
It appears the hands of police are tied,” he said. In this connection, KPCC vice-president V D Satheesan alleged that CPI-M Kannur district leadership was aware of Shoaib’s murder.
Inaugurating the 24-hour long hunger strike staged by Kannur DCC president Satheesan Pacheni, in protest against the murder, KPCC vice-president said CPI-M Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan was aware of the murder. Meanwhile, slain Shuhaib’s father Mohammed said that his son was facing threats from the CPM for a while.
