“You have inspired us to reach new heights of excellence,” said Mr. Ashwini Kumar, CEO, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) to the 18 employees of the Steel Plant chosen to receive the coveted Prime Minister Shram Award for the year 2016. In a felicitation function organised at the Shramik Smarak Monument inside the Steel Plant on 27th January, the CEO along with Mr. P.K.Pradhan, ED(P&A), Mr.
Subhendra Das, ED(Works), Mr. Paramananda Sahoo, ED(MM) and Mr. Rajiv Agrawal, ED(Projects) met the award winners, congratulated them and presented them token gifts. Speaking on the occasion, the CEO expressed happiness over the fact that the winners from RSP have got the award in groups and said that this shows the team spirit in RSP.
Mr Subhendra Das spoke about the importance of maintenance, safety and housekeeping for not only improving the performance of the Plant but also for bagging prestigious awards. A group of eight employees from Coke Ovens and E&ES Department, namely Ms. Sabita Panda, Mr. Raj Kishor Sahu, Mr Birendra Kumar Sahoo, Mr Jhasaketan Mishra, Mr.
Niranjan Majhi, Mr. Manoj Kumar Gharai, Mr. Rabindra Kumar Bishoyi and Mr Sunaram Murmu won the Shram Bhushan Award. Another group of five employees from the Hot Strip Mill has bagged the Shram Vir Award. They are Mr. Aditya Naik, Mr. Biswanath Murmu, Ms. Salomy Panna, Mr. Prafulla Kumar Patra and Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sahoo.
From Steel Melting Shop- I a group of 5 employees has got the Shram Shree Award. They are Mr. Bholanath Behera, Mr. Arjuna Charan Behera, Mr. Manoranjan Sahu, Mr. Ramesh Kumar Nayak and Mr. Tapas Ranjan Sahu.
It is worth mentioning here that the Prime Minister Shram awards are being given every year by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Govt of India to the employees working in government, public and private sector in recognition of their distinguished performances, innovative abilities, outstanding contribution in the field of productivity and exhibition of exceptional courage and presence of mind.
