Delhi’s Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh urged the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) to collaborate with the Delhi government in introducing courses that enable SC/ ST/ OBC students to start their own enterprises and thereby become self-reliant.
The minister visited the NSIC headquarters and its Advanced Training Centre and interacted with the officials and trainers present and listened to their suggestions and appreciated their ongoing initiatives. He emphasized that, in line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, the government is committed to encouraging youth to establish start-ups.
“Our efforts are focused on creating job-creators rather than job-seekers,” he added.
The meeting included meaningful discussions on promoting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), strengthening social-welfare schemes, and designing new and improved programs for the welfare of SC/ ST/ OBC and the underprivileged sections.
Indraj highlighted the government’s commitment to develop Delhi as an inclusive and empowered society by supporting and promoting MSMEs to help more young people become self-sufficient. He said cooperative societies will play a key role in fostering self-employment and skill development.
Senior officials of the NSIC, representatives of various departments, and local entrepreneurs were present on this occasion. They emphasized strengthening training and financial support to promote MSMEs in Delhi and assured enhanced special training programs and start-up assistance for women entrepreneurs and the youth.
