Delhi’s Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj on Friday conducted a joint inspection of the ongoing development works across several villages and areas under the Bawana Assembly constituency with senior officers of the departments and agencies concerned.
The officers from the Revenue Department, District Magistrate (DM), Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) offices, Public Works Department (PWD), Irrigation and Flood Control Department (I&FC), Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Delhi Development Authority (DDA), and other departments accompanied the ministers during the inspection.
Indraj took stock of the situation on the ground and issued strict instructions to the officials against negligence in the execution of the public works.
He directly interacted with the residents of the rural belt of the national capital and took note of their grievances, while issuing necessary directions to the officials on the spot for inter-departmental coordination and swift resolution of public grievances.
The minister claimed that the wave of development has begun across ’Delhi Dehaat,’ and this will not stop. A permanent solution will be provided to the long-standing problems of the region. It is a priority of the CM Rekha Gupta led government.
According to the minister’s office, waste disposal and sanitation emerged as a major issue during the inspection. Locals have been raising the issue of garbage being dumped irregularly alongside the roads, in vacant plots, parks, and residential areas.
Addressing this issue, Indraj directed the officers to develop a scientific and systematic waste management system in the region to identify suitable locations for the installation of compactors as required.
He stated that a permanent solution to the problem of dumping in public places is essential in order to provide citizens with a clean and healthy environment.
The minister asked the departments and the agencies concerned to submit a detailed survey report and find a coordinated resolution of all issues related to waste management be ensured.
As regards illegal constructions and encroachments, he told the officers to undertake joint action as such cases not only affect civic amenities but also give rise to serious safety hazards.
He directed all concerned departments to coordinate and take effective action as per the established rules.
Matters related to law and order and public safety in the region were also reviewed. The minister specifically directed officials to identify dark spots and install street lights at those locations in order to further strengthen the security arrangements in the area. He made it clear to the officers that sensitivity and accountability are absolutely essential in resolving public problems, and added that prior initiating any action on something, officers must gather complete information about the facts and local conditions.
