Two bike-borne men allegedly tried to pull a woman’s skirt while she was driving her two-wheeler in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore.

The incident took place on Sunday when the accused reached for the girl’s skirt and allegedly asked her to show what was under her skirt. The girl lost control in an attempt to stop the men and fell off the two-wheeler, injuring herself.

The victim took to the micro-blogging site and narrated her ordeal in a series of tweets saying that she will file a police complaint regarding the incident.

Replying to her tweets, state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan assured justice to the girl and asked her to help police in catching the culprits.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor also took to Twitter in connection with the incident and said that “we need to free Indians from such mob morality.”

“Read this thread. How the self-appointed custodians of Bharatiya Sanskriti harassed a woman because of what she was wearing. What gives these jerks the right to do so? Officially-sanctioned bigotry & sanctimony from the top. We need to free Indians from such mob morality,” he tweeted.

The girl claimed that even though it was one of the busiest roads, no one came to help her, except one person, who actually blamed her skirt for the assault.

“I was coming back from a bloggers meet. I was wearing a skirt. Two guys came near me and tried to pull my skirt. ‘Dikhao Iske niche kya hai?’ they said. It all happened within a few seconds. I fell down, but nobody tried to stop them,” she tweeted.

“They are roaming free and happy that they did it and got away with it. I will file a police complaint. I don’t know if they will be able to find those guys, but if I don’t do it right now, it defeats my purpose,” she added in another tweet.

“It happened on one of the busiest roads of Indore, and nobody tried to stop them. They ran away, and I couldn’t even see their number. I’ve never felt so helpless. I’m not the kind of girl who will just sit and watch,” the girl wrote in her Twitter thread.

“Just because I was wearing a skirt, doesn’t give you a right to behave like that. What I want to wear is my f**king choice. An uncle who came to help me after my fall said, ‘it’s because you’re wearing a skirt!’ I’ve never been so offended,” she added.

According to media reports, the girl went back to the same place and found that there were no CCTV cameras.
