In a startling revelation, the chargesheet by the Delhi Police qouted Sakariya Rajeshbhai Khimji (41), who allegedly attacked Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, as saying, “If I kill Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, no one would dare to touch any dog across the nation. It will give me huge fame too.”

During interrogation, Rajeshbhai initially tried to mislead the police by fabricating a story about seeing a dream of a dog. However, when confronted with his co-accused, Tahsin Raja Rafiullah Shaikh alias Bapu, he broke down and confessed to having lied about the dream.

“I and Tahsin were both watching videos of cruelty towards dogs. The videos made me furious, and I told Tahsin that I would go to Delhi and kill the Chief Minister. I further told him that killing the Delhi CM would send a message that no one would dare to touch any dog across the nation,” Rajeshbhai told investigators, as quoted in the chargesheet.

During the conversation, Tahsin also mocked Rajeshbhai, reminding him that he was previously beaten up and shooed away from Uttar Pradesh, where he was protesting for monkeys. In response, Rajeshbhai said that this time he would go to any extent—with “any extent” meaning killing a person.

Subsequently, Tahsin and Rajeshbhai hatched a conspiracy to kill the Delhi Chief Minister.

Rajeshbhai has been chargesheeted under sections 109(1), 221, 132, 115(2), and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). Co accused Tehsinraza was Chargesheeted under sections 109(1), 221, 132, and 61(2) of the same code.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, during a “Jan Sunwai” (public hearing) at her official residence in Civil Lines. The accused are currently in judicial custody.
