HS examinee has labour pain, takes exam in hospital

A Higher Secondary examinee, Nasima Khatun, took her history examination from the bed of the Raiganj super specialty hospital in North Dinajpur district.

Khatun was admitted to the hospital after she complained of sudden pain in her stomach as she wrote her paper on Sunday. According to sources, Khatun, however, ignored her condition, which actually was labour pain, and was committed to writing her examination.

She was taken to the hospital by some school staffers and was given some injections, it is learnt. According to doctors at the hospital, she was in a critical condition and that she could have given birth to a baby anytime while writing her paper.

Khatun, who is a resident of Cheramatia village in Itahar, is a student of the Bhupalpur Vidyapith in Durgapur in Itahar and has been allotted the Raiganj Pramada Sundari Vidya pith as her examination centre.

“After learning of the problems of Nasima Khatun, we sought help from officials of the Higher Secondary council to arrange for her to take her examination from hospital bed,” the Headmaster of the Bhupalpur Vidyapith, Kanchiram Roy, said.

An official of the state Higher Secondary Council, Sanjay Das, said, “Following the norms of our council, we allowed the girl to take the examination at the hospital itself.” Sources later said that the girl later gave birth to a baby at the hospital.
