Chairman of Economics department in Himachal Pradesh University here, Professor Sikander Kumar on Friday joined as 26th Vice Chancellor of the varsity for a period of three years.
His appointment was cleared by Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki, who is currently Chancellor of HPU, on Thursday night.
Prof Kumar has been engaged in teaching, research and extension for about three decades and has published three books on Statistical Methods, Micro Economics and Himalayan Economics. He has 31 research papers published in papers in journals of repute.

The post of Vice Chancellor had fallen vacant following the completion of second tenure of Prof ADB Bajpai on 24 May, 2017.
Pro Vice Chancellor of HPU, Prof Rajender Singh Chauhan had been holding the additional charge of VC since then.
