HP govt to bring back mortal remains of four youths killed in Iraq

The state government is making all out efforts to bring the mortal remains of the four Himachali youth killed by ISIS in Mosul, Iraq.

Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur informed the house that he had personally got in touch of the four families of the youth.

“The killing of the four youths that included Aman Kumar, Inderjeet, Sandeep Kumar from Kangra district and Hem Raj from Mandi district was very unfortunate. The government has come forward to help the families with Rs 4 Lakh each of the family members of the deceased,” he said, adding that the state government was trying to arrange to bring the mortal remains of the victims killed.

He further disclosed that the state was concerned with yet another sad incident wherein three Himachali youths serving in Merchant Navy, kidnapped in Nigeria by the pirates along with their ship.

The government is concerned with the safety of the three men from Kangra district that includes Ajay Kumar from Palampur, Pankaj Kumar and Sushil Kumar from Nagrota Surian, he added.

The pirates are demanding 11 million nairas (around Rs 20 lakh) for their release.

“State government was making concerted efforts and is taking up the issue with the Centre. I have personally spoken to Union External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj for taking up the matter for the safe return of the three youths,” he added.

Congress legislator Asha Kumari expressing concern said that the release of the three youth is a serious issue, as the pirates sole objective is money and can go to any thus threatening the lives of the youth.

The latest factual position is known to all, as it has been informed by Sushma Swaraj that she was also in touch with the families of the kidnapped youths in the Parliament and the state government on its own level also taking up the matter, he said.
