Ahead of LS polls, 70343 licensed firearms deposited in Himachal Pradesh
Revealing this, a spokesperson of the Himachal Pradesh Election Department here on Tuesday, said: “Besides, these 3278 weapons have been impounded or cancelled.”

Governor Acharya Devvrat on Wednesday said global warming is posing a serious challenge and effective steps should be taken to protect the precious environment which sustains human life.
He was participating in the cleanliness campaign organised by Municipal Corporation Shimla at Padam Dev Complex at Ridge in Shimla. He, along with Mayor MC Shimla Kusum Sadret, Deputy Mayor Rakesh Sharma, Councilors and officials of the corporation took part in the cleanliness drive.

“Lakhs of tourists visit Himachal Pradesh every year and to promote tourism, towns and cities should be kept clean,” he added.
Acharya Devvrat said he asked the MC authorities to consider developing a park at that area. He said that he had informed that it was being considered by the corporation to engage various Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) in maintaining the corporation’s land and their work would be assessed later in the year. The NGO which has done good work would be honoured.
Advisor to Governor Shashikant Sharma and Commissioner MC Shimla Pankaj Lalit were also present on the occasion.
