He said the victory is of the faith the people have continued to repose in the state government and the ideology of the Bharatiya Janata Party from 2014 to 2019 and to this date.
The Himachal Pradesh Pensioners Welfare Association (HPWA) has threatened to boycott the municipal elections, if the state government fails to notify the increase in their basic pension.
The pensioners association Secretary Subhash Verma said on Wednesday, “It’s been five months, since the announcement of increase in basic pay by the chief minister on December 17, 2016. However, there is nothing concrete on ground. The state pensioners irked by the indifference have decided to boycott Shimla Municipal Corporation elections.”
Chief minister had announced increase in 5,10 and 15 percent increase in basic pension for pensioners in the age of 65,70 and 75 years, he added.

He said, “Despite the letter having been forwarded from the chief minister’s office for increase in basic pension of the pensioners, the Finance Department has failed to come out with a notification.”
Sharma disclosed that of the 1,52,000 pensioners, there are as many as 16,500 pensioners are residents of Shimla who have retired from state government departments. He further said, the pensioners have also demanded reimbursement of medical bills that are pending since last two years.
