After wooing investors in the Netherlands, a delegation of Himachal Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, on Monday, discussed collaboration with UAE in tourism and real estate sectors.

Thakur, along with a high-powered delegation which also included Industries Minister Bikram Singh met Chairman and Managing Director, LuLu International MA Yusuf Ali and sought investment in shopping malls and hypermarkets in the state.

Thakur invited the group to invest in shopping malls and hypermarkets in tourist destinations of Himachal like Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala and industrial hubs of the state.

The delegation discussed various areas of collaboration and invited the LuLu Group to participate in the Himachal Global Investors Meet scheduled for November 2019.

Industries Minister Bikram Singh assured of all possible help and support to ground the proposed investments. He said Himachal is a land of abundant opportunities for investment in various sectors and the state government has simplified procedures for attracting investment in the state.

Yusuf Ali explained the diverse businesses of the group and said that his group will explore the possibilities in fruit processing and procurement and small shopping malls as per the demands of the state.

He said that he will constitute a team immediately which will visit Himachal Pradesh within the next 20-30 days to explore areas of collaboration.

Additional Chief Secretary-cum-Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Shrikant Baldi opined that we can also explore opportunities in fruit and vegetable sourcing from the state. He also shared that the state has opened up for real estate and urban development sectors.

The delegation also met Minister of Climate Change and Environment of UAE Thani Al Zeyoudi at Dubai on Monday and invited him to the Global Investors Meet. They had detailed discussions to explore investment opportunities in the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Later, the delegation also had a meeting with Chairman of Dubai Chamber of Commerce Majid Saif Al Ghurair. Vice President of Dubai Chamber Hassan Al Hashemi welcomed the delegation and assured all possible support for the global investors meet being organised by Himachal Pradesh.

It was decided in the meeting that the state government would share the list of investible projects for onward sharing with the members of the Chamber.

Dr Zeyoudi assured of all possible support to the government of Himachal and assured to fix up certain good and relevant B2G meetings of the state delegation during the visit to UAE. He assured to extend invitations to the UAE business community to participate in the maiden investment meet being held in Himachal.
