Haryana Chief Minister (CM), Manohar Lal Khattar on Saturday said his government has  succeeded in keeping a check on corruption and nepotism that prevailed in the state during the regime of previous government, especially  for providing government jobs and ensuring benefits of welfare.

Presiding over a meeting of 22 newly inducted Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associates (CMGGAs), Khattar said his government has ensured transparency in the recruitment process by putting an end to ‘Sifarish (recommendation ) System’ but much more needs to be done.

He said earlier teachers had to make frequent visits to the offices to get their transfers and postings done, but the state government has now implemented a transparent online teacher’s transfer policy to provide them station of their choice so that they could concentrate more on teaching.

Khattar said the state government is working to bridge the gap between the people and the government and has, therefore, implemented a number of schemes and programmes to achieve this goal.

An official spokesperson said efforts made Khattar government to eliminate nepotism in government jobs are getting appreciation on social media too as the hashtag #NepotismFreeHaryana bagged second spot in the trending list of Twitter recently on June 29.

The spokesperson said in the recent police recruitment drive, in all 4,500 people were selected solely on the basis of merit. Transparency that marked the entire process has been widely acclaimed by a number of people from both within the state and outside on twitter.

Their refrain was that the present government has done very well in establishing people’s faith in the administration while making recruitment in government jobs in a transparent and merit-based manner, diametrically opposite the rampant nepotism practised by the previous regime, he added. A tweet related to the trend alert #NepotismFreeHaryana read, “Transparent recruitment in police has increased the morale of the honest youth of the state”.
