Former MLA Rakesh Kalia returns to Congress after a brief stint in BJP
He joined the BJP in 2022 after being denied a Congress ticket to contest the Assembly elections from Gagret in Himachal Pradesh.
In a controversial statement, Haryana Cabinet Minister Anil Vij compared Congress President Rahul Gandhi to Nipah virus.
The minister took to Twitter and wrote that the Congress chief is like a Nipah virus and any political party which comes in his contact, will be destroyed.
“Rahul Gandhi is equal to Nipah virus. A political party which will come in contact with him will be finished,” Vij tweeted in Hindi.

This is not for the first time that Vij has created a furore with his statement. Earlier this month, he reportedly had stated that freedom fighters Bhagat Singh and Lala Lajpat Rai made sacrifice for the country, unlike Nehru and Gandhi who did not bear even a single stick.
Earlier also, Vij had taken a swipe at Rahul Gandhi.
Once he had said that the elevation of Rahul Gandhi as Congress president would help Prime Minister Narendra Modi in making India “Congress Free.”
“I welcome the decision of making Rahul Gandhi as the president of the Congress. It will help Prime Minister Narendra Modi in making ‘Congress-mukt Bharat’ (Congress-free India),” he was quoted as saying by the media.
Talking about the virus, the deadly disease has claimed 14 lives so far in Kerala. It is known that the natural host of the virus are mainly the fruit bats of the Pteropodidae family, Pteropus genus.
