With a view to beefing up security in jails, Haryana government has decided to install 109 mobile phone jammers in all jails of the state.

An official spokesperson said that it would cost more than Rs 68.22 Crore which has been approved by the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar while apart from this a proposal to sanction an amount of over Rs 10.64 Crore for installation of 17 mobile jammers in District Jail, Gurugram, had already been sent to the government.

In the first phase, 14 mobile phone jammers model EC-SJJE-200 are being installed by M/s ECIL, a Government of India undertaking. Jammers of the same model would be installed in the remaining jails of the state for which budgetary provision of over Rs 68.22 Crore has been made in the current financial year, he added.
