The body of a five-year-old girl was recovered on Sunday from a drain at a village in Haryana’s Yamunanagar district, police said.
According to reports, the child was strangled and her throat was slit. The police said sexual assault can not be ruled out.
The incident occurred on Saturday. The girl accompanied her father, a watchman, for fishing. To protect themselves from the scorching heat, the father asked the little girl to bring an umbrella from their home nearby, police said. The girl reached home and took the umbrella but did not return to the father.

When her father reached home, he found out that the girl had gone missing, police said. The man, along with the help of local villagers, launched a search but the girl was not found. Later, the police were informed.
The body of the girl was found lying in a drain nearby her home on Sunday.
Police have detained 3 to 4 people and were questioning them.
