Two doctors of Fortis Hospital, Gurugram, were arrested on Friday for medical negligence as there was “delay in proper treatment” of a 51-year-old woman who had died of cardiac arrest in 2017.  The accused will be produced in a court this afternoon.

The doctors – Dr SS Murti (chief cardiologist) and Dr Vaja Nagarjun – were treating patient Seema Ghai, who had suffered a heart attack and could not be revived.

After complaining about chest pain, Seema was admitted to the hospital on May 12, 2017.

The patient’s husband said that Seema was in fully conscious when she reached the hospital. The ECG, which was conducted on the patient, had shown some abnormalities.

According to media reports, it was found by board of inquiry that the doctors were responsible for “delay in proper treatment” of the woman.

The doctors, reportedly, failed in administering anti-platelet treatment which should have been taken up following the protocol.

After the death of the patient, the doctors were booked under Section 304 of the IPC on February 20.

A special investigation team, which was headed by inspector Gaurav Phogat, had recovered evidence of medical negligence against the doctors.
