EC suggests ‘refrain’ to Guv’s decision to be at Cooch Behar on poll day
Sources in the know at Raj Bhavan claimed that the poll panel through a mail today advised against the Governor’s plan tomorrow, 48 hours before the polls on Friday.
A brief two-day session of the newly elected Gujarat Legislative Assembly is likely to be held from 20 January. The inaugural session of the assembly would undertake only preliminary business like appointment of the Speaker, address of the Governor and oath-taking of the newly elected legislators.
The brief session of the assembly should have begun earlier but it has been rescheduled due to the Gujarat visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on 17 January. The Gujarat Government has approached Governor O P Kohli for a date to suit him, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel said.
After the brief session for preliminary business, the Budget session of the assembly would start in the last week of February.
