Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that the government is working on a war footing to achieve its targets—be it expanding sewage treatment plants, diverting drains, or implementing modern biological treatment technologies, adding that decisive steps are being taken on all fronts.

Taking to social media platform X on Sunday, Gupta stated that the government’s commitment is clear: to hand over a pristine and revered Yamuna River to future generations. She emphasized that efforts are underway to revive the river so it can once again become the lifeline of Delhi.

The Chief Minister earlier said that the government is working in multiple directions to clean the Yamuna, which includes plans to establish new decentralized Sewage Treatment Plants (D-STPs) to improve wastewater management and protect the river from excessive pollution.

Work has also been undertaken to remove physical waste from the river using various machines for the task.

Gupta also mentioned that plans are in place for the development of the city’s dairy colonies to ensure that cow dung and other waste from these areas do not enter the Yamuna through drains.

Highlighting the city’s improved monsoon preparedness, she shared on social media that while earlier the city would come to a standstill during rains—especially at locations like Minto Bridge—now, traffic continues to flow even during heavy downpours.

She noted that a state-of-the-art pumping system has been installed at Minto Bridge, which is being actively monitored. With effective coordination between departments, waterlogging at the site has become a thing of the past.

“In our government, we don’t just identify problems—we work to find solutions,” Gupta affirmed.
