Delhi’s Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh on Saturday said that Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has directed officials to ensure uninterrupted water and electricity supply in all villages of the national capital, adding that the development of rural areas and JJ colonies is among the government’s top priorities.

Taking a step forward in this direction, Indraj inaugurated the work of laying a new water pipeline from Majra Dabas village in the north-western part of the city to Budhanpur Majra in Ward 31 of Nangal Thakran village, falling under the Bawana Assembly constituency.

He noted that many water pipelines in Bawana’s villages are 35–40 years old, severely affecting the drinking water supply.

Indraj announced that all such dilapidated pipelines would be replaced, and in areas where pipelines have not yet been laid, the network would be extended up to the last household to ensure that every family has access to clean drinking water.

He directed Delhi Jal Board officials to replace the old pipelines with high-quality ductile iron (DI) pipelines and complete the work within three months. He also instructed them to maintain uninterrupted water supply during the project and to restore the affected roads at the earliest.

According to officials, the project is expected to benefit a large number of residents in these villages.

Later in the day, the minister also inaugurated a new electricity transformer in Mungeshpur village to ensure uninterrupted power supply. He said the initiative would provide villagers with trip-free and improved electricity services.
