Delhi’s Water Minister Parvesh Verma, speaking at a meeting of the Zonal Revenue Officers (ZROs) of the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) at the board’s head office, Varunalaya, stressed the need for transparent, honest and citizen-centric governance.
The Minister told the officers tthat the government schemes and public welfare initiatives can achieve their purpose only when they reach out to the people for whom they are meant. Hence, he emphasized that representatives of the government must be visible in all localities so that every citizen feel their presence and remain reassured about the redressal of their grievances.
”The real measure of governance is what people experience in their daily lives. Every citizen should know what facilities and benefits the government is providing and how they can access them,” he said.
“Our officers must work among the people, understand their concerns and resolve issues with honesty and sensitivity. Public service is a responsibility that demands transparency, dedication and accountability at every step,” the minister added.
Verma directed all ZROs to maintain regular contact with residents, listen to their concerns on the ground and ensure that information about government benefits and services reaches every household.
Stressing accountability in public service, he instructed the officers to work with complete transparency and integrity while discharging their responsibilities. He said the officers should not remain confined to their office spaces, but should actively engage with communities, acting as a bridge between the government and citizens.
Verma emphasized that building trust between the government and citizens is crucial, adding that it develops through regular engagement and responsive administration.
He urged the officers to ensure that grievances are redressed promptly, asserting that no eligible citizen is deprived of government services due to lack of information or administrative delays.
Verma has re-assured that the Delhi government remains committed to building an administration that is transparent, accessible and responsive, while citizen welfare stays at the core of every decision.
