Man kills himself in Assam after his 2 sons die in accident
Upon receiving the devastating news, their father, Anil Gogoi, reportedly took his own life by hanging himself at their residence in Titabor, Assam.
Unable to sit for the on-going Madhyamik examination, a girl student committed suicide last night at Jalangi area in Murshidabad district.
The deceased, Pinky Saha failed in class-IX last year but she used to attend classes for class-X at Baghmara High School of Jalangi, said her family members.
“Pinky never told us that she failed in class-IX. In school, she used to sit with class-X students. So, we thought she is going to appear for the Madyamik exam this year,” said her father Subrata Kumar Saha.

“We noticed that she was not quite ready for the exam. Asked if anything went wrong, she told us she did not receive her Admit card. We took up the matter with the school. Thereafter, we came to know shehad lied to us.” Neighbours of the Saha family said, “It is possible that Pinky took it to heart when her parents scolded her after knowing the details of her school life in last one year.
She told lies because she wanted to avoid attending classes with junior girls of class-IX. She imagined herself as a Madhyamik examinee and attended school quite regularly as class-X student. Though officially, she was not a student of standard X.” Last night, Pinky consumed pesticides.
She was rushed to Sadikhardiar Hospital from where she was referred to Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital at Behrampore. But she died on the way at Daulatabad area, sources said.
In a separate incident, Nuresa Begum, a Madhyamik examinee, tried to commit suicide last night. But she survived at Kandi hospital where she wrote the exam from the hospital bed as the local administration made necessary arrangements for her exam.
Nuresa was a student of Baalia Paresh Nath High School in Murshidabad district. In another incident, Isra Khatun, also a Madhyamik examinee from Rasora Ambika High School at Kandi fell sick. She also wrote the exam from hospital, sources said.
