Ghana delegation to extend business ties with West Bengal

A delegation from Ghana High Commission from New Delhi has expressed interest in extending business ties with the state while inviting the business community to sit and discuss about doing more and more business with the country.

“Ghana and India share striking similarities in culture, food habits and several other aspects. Both countries share rich history together and are closely bound, right from the times of Independence. Ghana looks forward to more Indian businesses there and also seeks to expand our businesses here.” said Mr. Michael A.N.N. Oquaye Jnr., Ghana High Commissioner to India, at an event on Tuesday.

Replying to the question of trade with Bengal, he said, “We are focussed on extending our business relations with Bengal in the field of textile industry, agriculture, medical tourism and medical infrastructure,” said the High Commissioner.

“We are also looking forward to enhance tourism between the two countries. However, as medical facilities here are larger and well developed, it could be used to develop healthcare system in Ghana. The high commissioner also expressed interest in initiating business in other sectors including energy, infrastructure, railways, water irrigation, and housing in West Bengal.’’

Hoping of extended business volumes between Bengal and Ghana, Mr Aaron Nuamah Sintim, First Secretary, Ghana High Commission at New Delhi, said, “The High Commission of Ghana is preparing to form an organisation in collaboration with West Bengal to promote business with the state.”

The association which would be based at Bengal, will very soon hold and exhibition for promotion of Bengal handicrafts in Ghana,” added Mr. Sintim.
