Venkatasubba Reddiar was a two term Chief Minister of Puducherry and was also Mayor of Nettapakkam commune panchayat during the French regime here.

He led the freedom movement in Puducherry which culminated in its liberation from the French regime through a referendum held in Kizhoor village near here.
