Wary of  transfer to an undesired destination, five Haryana teachers have landed in trouble for giving "wrong information" for taking undue benefit under the "online" Teacher Transfer Policy.

Besides getting punishment posting in Nuh, the most backward district in Haryana, all five are also facing disciplinary action.

The additional chief secretary, school education department, PK Das said that the department has received information that these teachers deliberately took undue advantage and wrongful gain by feeding false information on the portal which used for transferring teachers.

Two lecturers, Sunita Sapra and Yag Dutt, have been transferred to Nuh for showing their regular service as contractual service to reduce the quantum of stay in present zone.

Three other teachers, Kalawati, Surinder Kaur and Urmila Kumari have also been transferred to Nuh  as they   took  five marks of "couple case" even when their husbands are no longer in government service. Earlier, these teachers were transferred to Hisar and Yamuna Nagar. Nearly 40,000 teachers have so far been transferred with the online system and most of them got one of the first three stations of their choice.

Under the transfer policy, schools are  categorised into seven zones and teachers are transferred as per their preferences entered into the portal. While a city or district headquarters comes in zone one, remote schools come in zone seven. Points based on several factors including age, performance and time spent in a zone are taken into consideration for the transfer.

In the Haryana Board of School Examination for Class X, the pass percentage in Nuh education block was a dismal 27.21 per cent in the results declared in June this year.

Results for all blocks in Nuh were below the  state pass percentage of 64.50 per cent,  the performance of Nuh and Ferozepur Jhirka blocks are particularly dismal with pass rates of 27.21 per cent and 12.96 per cent respectively. Acute staff shortage of staff is also blamed for the poor examination results in the district.
