Five Bangladeshi nationals, including two women, were arrested by police for staying in Delhi since 2017, officials said on Wednesday.
According to the police, the foreign nationals recently moved to Delhi’s Palam area after working in a brick kiln in Haryana.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Akash (26), Chamili Khatun (26), Mohommad Nahim (27), Halima Begum (40), and a minor.
The police said after receiving information about the presence of illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in Palam village, the police officers immediately got their hands on the suspected illegal immigrants and conducted a thorough inquiry on them. They failed to produce valid documents and later admitted to originally hailing from Bangladesh and entered India in 2017 by illegal means.
Initially, they worked at brick kilns in Kosli, Rewari, and Haryana but were asked not to continue with the job. Subsequently, they came to Delhi in search of work, an officer mentioned.
The police have completed the verification and necessary legal formalities, and their deportation process through the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO) has been initiated.
In a separate incident, the Delhi Police deported two Bangladeshi nationals who were staying in Delhi with forged documentation in the Dwarka district of the city.
The duo was identified as Shahdatt and Mohommad Anwar, police said.
They got their hands on them after conducting a raid in the area upon receiving input that illegal migrants were roaming in the area.
“During sustained interrogation, the duo disclosed that they came from Bangladesh and illegally entering India,” a senior officer mentioned.
As per the statement of the police, they were produced at the office of FRRO, R K Puram, and after the completion of necessary formalities, they were detained at the center at Vijay Vihar in Rohini.
