A day after the blast near the Red Fort that claimed 13 lives, the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received five reports of unclaimed vehicles and bags. However, officials later confirmed that all of them were false alarms.
According to officials, the calls started pouring in shortly after news of the explosion spread, reflecting the heightened fear and anxiety across the city.
“The first call came in at 9:15 pm from Bijwasan about an unclaimed bag. A fire vehicle was immediately dispatched to the location, but nothing suspicious was found,” a DFS officer said.
He added that a few minutes later, at 9:27 pm, another call was received from Vasant Vihar regarding an unclaimed car. A fire tender was sent to the scene and returned around 10:15 pm after verification.
Subsequent calls were reported at 9:34 pm from Sector 13 in Dwarka and at 9:35 pm from near Kashmere Gate, both concerning unattended cars.
“The last call of the night was received at 10:01 pm from the Signature Bridge area in Khajuri Khas, also about an unclaimed vehicle. All the reported items were found to be harmless, but each call was handled with utmost seriousness and in coordination with local police,” the officer said.
He noted that the spate of alerts underscored the public’s anxiety in the aftermath of the Red Fort blast.
“People were naturally on edge after the explosion. Our teams responded swiftly to ensure there was no threat or cause for concern elsewhere,” the officer added.
