With over 3.2 lakh fake beneficiaries of social security pensions detected in Haryana, the state government would now hold camps from September 18 to 23 at block level to verify the documents of beneficiaries of all social security pensions in the state.

Disclosing this, minister of state for Social Justice and Empowerment, Krishan Kumar Bedi appealed to eligible beneficiaries to get their documents verified at these camps so that their pension, along with arrears, could be deposited in their accounts at the earliest.

If any eligible beneficiary is not able to get the documents verified at these camps due to any reason, he could get it done in the next two months at the district headquarters.

Also, those beneficiaries who do not have Aadhaar Card could also get these made during that period and submit the documents to the department, Bedi added.

The state government has de-activated direct benefit transfer of pension to 3,21,000 beneficiaries due to their Aadhaar cards not being valid or fake, registered outside the state, and also not linked with pension. After verification of the documents, the amount of pension along with arrears would be credited to the bank accounts of all eligible beneficiaries.

From August, possession of Aadhaar number is mandatory for availing pension. As per the verification exercise conducted by the social justice and empowerment department , there are over 45,000 beneficiaries who have not submitted their Aadhaar numbers, over 91,000, with technically invalid Aadhaar numbers, over 26,000 with Aadhaar numbers registered outside Haryana and over 1.79 lakh beneficiaries with repeated Aadhaar numbers.

The state government will now reactivate the accounts of beneficiaries after verification with the original record and updation of correct Aadhaar numbers. Of over 23 lakh beneficiaries, pension would only be sent about 19 lakh till the verification of suspected fake beneficiaries.
