Fake CBI officer conducts raid, arrested

A fake CBI officer who disguised as a Sikh was trying to extort money in the name of raids on a tiles trader was arrested by the police from Nai Mandi area of Muzaffarnagar district on Saturday night

Confirming the arrest, SP ( city) of Muzaffarnagar Satpal Antil said the fake CBI officer has been identified as Trivendra Singh of Bijnore who is currently residing in a colony of Nai Mandi area.

A case has been registered against him and he will be sent to jail , added the SP.

According to the police, Trivendra Singh disguised as a Sikh wearing a turban and artificial beared arrived at Nai Mandi police station on Saturday night in a car with a monogram of CBI . At the police station he asked to be provided two constables to raid the house of tiles trader Adesh Goel in Harivrindavan colony of Nai Mandi area. Convinced on seeing his identity card Singh was provided with two constables.

He reached the house of tiles trader Adesh Goel for the raid with the two constables. He told the family members that the raid could be averted if they would give them Rs. 10 lakh. Finding themselves in a fix the family members informed Adesh Goel who was out of town about the raid. Goel called RLD leader Abhishek Choudhary and requested him to reach his residence and handle the situation.

The RLD leader reached there with some men and started a dialogue with the raiding officer. Not convinced Chaudhary asked the fake officer to accompany him to the police station. This led to an altercation between the duo which ended up in a scuffle. In this Singh’s turban and beard came out which revealed his actual identity.

Chaudhary immediately called up the police and handed him over.
