Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday attended the swearing-in ceremony of the newly-elected BJP government in West Bengal on Saturday and paid tribute to the courage and resilience shown by the people of the state, especially the women, in voting for a change in the assembly electioons.
Gupta called it a historic moment in the realisation of the dream of ‘Sonar Bangla.’ She remarked witnessing years of oppression, corruption, and political intimidation over the past 15 years, the people of Bengal finally chosen a democratic change. She called it the beginning of a new chapter for West Bengal, where development and public trust would guide governance and the state would move forward with the rest of the country.
CM Gupta said the era marked by allegations of corruption and atrocities under the previous regime has now come to an end. Expressing confidence in the new administration, she said the government led by Suvendu Adhikari would prioritise good governance, development, and public welfare.
According to her, the formation of the new government has sent out a positive message that Bengal’s future is now brighter.
Congratulating Adhikari and the people of Bengal on behalf of entire Delhi for the new beginning, she said it’s not only a political victory but also a tribute to the sacrifice of the BJP workers who laid down their lives for a better future for Bengal and the dream of “Sonar Bangla.”
According to Gupta, the party workers sacrificed their lives not only for the BJP but also for the future generations of the state as also for protecting democracy.
The atrocities faced by women, youth, and political workers in Bengal, she said, had deeply hurt democratic values. But the people responded through the democratic process and ushered in a new era of change.
