Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday paid tributes to Babasaheb Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on his birth anniversary, stating that he devoted his life to the empowerment of Dalits and marginalized sections of society.

Describing Dr. Ambedkar as a foundational pillar of India’s democracy, she said the country’s vast democratic framework stands firmly on the principles he laid down.

She added that the ideals of equality and equal rights championed by Babasaheb continue to guide the Delhi government’s work, which aims to build a more inclusive, empowered, and developed national capital.

According to Gupta, Babasaheb’s life and ideas continue to inspire people to move forward on the path of equality, justice, and self-respect.

Referring to his enduring call—“Educate, Organise, and Agitate”—the Chief Minister said the message remains as relevant today as ever in empowering every section of society. She also noted that it was a privilege for her to pay tribute at his Mahaparinirvan site.

Meanwhile, she inaugurated water ATMs at GP Block and Beriwala Bagh Block on the occasion, noting that providing access to clean drinking water on Ambedkar Jayanti is a meaningful step towards realising his vision.

A total of seven water ATMs have been installed across Wards 55, 56, and 57 in the constituency. Gupta also distributed water ATM cards to local residents to ensure regular access to safe drinking water.

She said her government’s policies and programmes are being designed to enable every citizen to live with dignity, especially those who have been left out of mainstream development.

Gupta further stated that efforts are underway to develop Shalimar Bagh as a model constituency—one where every household has access to essential amenities and every section of society is treated with dignity.
