Email threats: House can’t be deterred, will keep functioning to serve people: Speaker Vijender Gupta

Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Tuesday said that prior to the commencement of house’s proceedings, certain objectionable emails were received on his official email ID, as well as on the Delhi Legislative Assembly’s email account.

Gupta, while speaking in the house, stated that the matter was of a sensitive nature and had direct implications on security, assuring the members that the concerned security agencies responded with utmost alertness and promptitude.

He said the matter was immediately examined and all necessary measures were undertaken keeping in view the safety and security of everyone in the complex.
He expressed that despite such attempts, the proceedings of the house were conducted without any delay or disruption.

Meanwhile, it is for the second time that the Delhi Vidhan Sabha and its Speaker have again received such a threatening email.

Sources say a threat email was received on the account of the assembly, and also of the speaker in the early morning hours.
