Delhi Police have arrested a 22-year-old drug peddler and seized over 19 grams of a narcotic substance from his possession, officials said on Tuesday.

The accused, identified as Lucky, was found in possession of 19.41 grams of smack, along with ₹765 in cash, police stated.

“On Monday, at around 3:45 PM, the patrolling team was on its routine rounds when they noticed an individual behaving suspiciously in a park, handing over small packets to a boy in exchange for money,” a senior police officer said.

He added, “Upon spotting the police, the boy fled the scene, and the suspect, Lucky, attempted to escape but was apprehended by the alert patrolling team.”

Upon conducting a thorough search, officers recovered a white polythene packet containing 19.41 grams of smack from Lucky’s possession.

He was immediately taken into custody, and a case under Section 21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the Nand Nagri police station.

“Lucky is currently being questioned to gather further details,” the officer said, adding that a deeper investigation is underway.

Lucky, a resident of Delhi’s Nand Nagri, has a prior record of involvement in three cases under the NDPS and Delhi Excise Acts.

“The police are working to determine the extent of his involvement in the drug trade,” the officer added.
