A driver was injured and five parked vehicles were damaged in a wall collapse in south Delhi’s Greater Kailash-1 on Friday, an official said.

The Delhi Police said the wall, measuring around 30 to 35 feet in length, was under the joint maintenance of Tata Telecom and the Forest Department.

After receiving a distress call at a PCR, police personnel were dispatched to the spot.

“We were informed about the situation after a distress PCR call was received, following which police personnel were promptly dispatched to the spot,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Ankit Chauhan said.

The officer continued by saying, “Upon arrival (at the site), the officers shifted the driver, Manoj, who sustained minor injuries in the incident to AIIMS for medical treatment.”

The incident caused damage to as many as five vehicles parked nearby, he added.

After assessing the situation, the authorities assured that everything was under control. “Locals in the vicinity have been urged to avoid parking or gathering near the wall that has been deemed unsafe due to its age,” DCP Chauhan said.

Tata Telecom and the Forest Department have both been directed to carry out urgent repairs to prevent further accidents.

The exact cause of the collapse is yet to be ascertained. Further investigation into the incident is underway, the officer stated.
