A dog shared space in toilet with a leopard for six long hours and walked out alive to surprise one and all in Almora on Monday. The incident took place in a locality near the RTO office.

Basant Singh Keda woke up at 3.45 am on Monday and headed for bathroom. He heard some sound coming out and saw the leopard inside. Immediately he locked the door and in the morning informed the forest officilas.

Almora’s Divisional Forest Officer SR Prajapati said, “As we received information, our team rushed to the site. The team used tranquiliser and the leopard was caged. The leopard was too frightened to attack the dog, it seems.”

It is assumed that the leopard entered the habitat area in search of food. The feline was possibly chasing the dog and entered the toilet in the process.

As the word spread, hordes of onlookers gathered outside the house. The forest department staff created a hole on the toilet door to insert the tranquiliser gun barrel. They took the shot and the leopard lost consciousness after some time.

The photograph shows the dog staring at the unconscious leopard. The stray dog of the Almora market walked out alive of the toilet to become toast of the town.
